ROGERS, Laura Goddard

Source: Unknown newspaper (thanks so much to DeAntha W for sharing her family papers with it so we could have these great pieces of history)

On the afternoon of Feb 25, 1942, just as the golden sun was sinking in the western horizon the spirit of one we loved, suddenly and peacefully passed away.  Geneva, daughter of Millicent H, and Marian Goddard was born June 11, 1876 and at her passing was 65 years, 8 months 14 days old. On Sept 11 1898, she was married to James Rogers and to this union was born two children, one son, dying in infancy, one daughter, Helen, who became the wife of Lester Lenard passed away Dec 1, 1930.  She became a member of the Church of Christ at Long Branch many years ago, and lived a true believer in Christ as her Savior and Redeemer of sinners.  She was a faithful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a kind friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed by us all.  She leaves to mourn their loss her devoted husband, two grandchildren, Beulah Jane and Junior Lenard, one sister, Mrs. Pearl Norman of Hillsdale, one brother, Charles of Clinton Falls and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.  Our loss is her eternal gain. Funeral services were held at Long Branch church on Friday at 2 o’clock conducted by Elder Oscar Irwin. Interment in Long Branch cemetery --- I wish to thank all my relatives and neighbors for kindness shown me at the death of my wife – Neva Rogers. Also Reverend Irwin for his consoling words, Mr. McCurry for his many considerations, the ones who sang, the pallbearers, the flower girls, also for all the beautiful floral offerings and any one who assisted in any way…James Rogers
